Swine Flu Vaccination 2011 – have they tested it?

January 18th, 2011 | Flu Symptoms and Signs Scroll Down To Read Answers To The Question

From what I gather, the vaccination for this supposedly terrible pandemic of swine flu has hardly been tested at all. Is it true that the companies / government / whoever are relying on the idea that it is the same as the normal flu vaccine, but with swine flu instead?

I seriously wonder about the safety of it, and wether there will lead to side effects (Especially in pregnant women)

Will YOU be having the vaccination? I for one certainly don’t want it.

  1. rosiewright says:

no I definitly wont have an injection against swine flu.

  2. Emmar says:

No way. It’s probably more likely to kill you than the swine flu. XD

  3. chad c says:

since swine flu is pretty much the same as the normal flu, why would it be that different? i don’t get normal flu shots so i’m not going to get a swine flu shot. i’m young and healthy. i have a healthy immune system and can fight off the stupid flu. no big deal.

  4. Ryan says:

They are testing the vaccination in Maryland. It is the first test vaccine being used. I do not want a vaccine until they are thoroughly tested personally, but that is simply my opinion. The C.D.C. website has more information about continuing coverage of the H1N1 flu.

  5. daxica says:

I don’t think they’ll be offering it to everyone anyway only the already ill, old, or very young children and pregnant mums. I won’t be having it last time I had a flu jab I was ill for weeks and after that I never caught so many colds in one year so no way. I’ll let my bodies antibodies fight it naturally like any other sickness.hopefully I’ll not catch it anyway.:0)

  6. gouri says:

Check the site thoroughly. It’s an excellent site with some wonderful options for you. It will definitely help you. Have a look.

  7. ... says:

If you live in the USA you will have no choice as the government made a law which will allow people to come INTO your homes FORCABLY and FORCE the vaccine on you.

I will probably get it. It will most likely be mandatory.
All the people ranting and worrying about testing don’t know what they’re talking about.

  8. Macha says:

Flu vaccines are given to millions of people all over the world every year. I have had several flu vaccines since my late teens as I suffer from asthma, and have never had the slightest ill effects from them. I even had one when I was pregnant with twins.

Why would this vaccine be any different?

This particular virus is more likely to kill young and otherwise healthy people, due to a phenomenon known as the ‘Cytokine Storm’, where a healthy immune system severely overreacts to a virus invading the body.

    From Wiki:

“It is believed that cytokine storms were responsible for many of the deaths during the 1918 influenza pandemic, which killed a disproportionate number of young adults. In this case, a healthy immune system may have been a liability rather than an asset. Recent reports of high mortality among healthy young adults in the 2009 swine flu outbreak has led to speculation that cytokine storms could be responsible for these deaths.”

My sister is a senior scientific researcher (Genetics) with a Phd and a string of publications as long as your arm. Her reaction to anti-vaccine paranoia – “hysterical, ill-informed rubbish.”

You can play Russian Roulette with your life if you like – I for one will be having the jab. I have two children to think about.

  9. Geraldine says:

    swine flu shmine shmu

the swine flu virus kills LESS people than the ordinary flu, the ordinary flu kills tens of thousands people each year and this swine flu has only killed thousand

  10. Lisa says:

I will not be getting the swine flu vaccine. You are right about it not being thoroughly tested: “It’s possible the government will begin a public vaccination campaign before all of the work of the trials is complete, Dr. Anne Schuchat has said. She oversees the flu vaccination programs at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.” http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/32370420/ns/health-swine_flu/

There’s a good chance the swine flu vaccine will contain MF59 (squalene). This is an adjuvant that no civilian in the United States has ever gotten. It was used experimentally in some anthrax vaccines given to the military during the Gulf War, making many very sick with autoimmune diseases. If squalene is not used, there’s a good chance that aluminum will be used as an adjuvant. Aluminum has been used as an adjuvant in other vaccies, but never before in a flu vaccine in the U.S. So it is very likely that the swine flu vaccine will be very different than other flu vaccines, and much more dangerous.

It is very sad that the swine flu vaccine will be given to pregnant women. The government and the pharmaceutical industries don’t want to give those babies a chance at a healthy life.

“Rhianna Returns,” you made me laugh. You said, “The benefits outweigh the risks. The vaccine is undergoing clinical trials as we speak.” So are you saying you know the results of the clinical trials before they are over?

Follow the money and do the math.
    Tested it?
Ummm… they are testing it on Children !

  12. Rhianna Returns says:

Yes. I will be first in line. In the UK, the swine flu vaccination is not compulsory, but I urge you to listen to current medical advice and have the vaccine.

The problem is, most people think that just because the strain of the H1N1 virus that going around now is relatively mild that it’s not problem. If you look at pattens of other pandemic flu outbreaks, there tends to be an initial outbreak in the summer (fairly mild), then it returns in the winter in a more virulent form and that’s the risk. The vaccine should offer some degree of cross protection against other strains too. Please don’t listen to scaremongering stories regarding vaccines.

The benefits outweigh the risks. The vaccine is undergoing clinical trials as we speak.

Most of the answers above are from ignorant people who have listened to scaremongering stories and misinformation, particularly the poster who calls herself a ‘Smart Nurse’ Had to giggle at that one and her poor links to apparent evidence.

Gotta admire the way she completely ignores the fact your question is regarding the swine flu vaccine and launches into a debate about Gardasil and the bird flu vaccine!

But just to clarify. The bird flu vaccine was given to homeless people who may have been immunosuppressed and died from other factors. As the article clearly states, there is NO PROVEN LINK.

    With regards to Gardasil:-
Here are two studies from the respected Lancet which support the vaccine’s efficacy:-
    http://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736%2809%2961248-4/abstract

    http://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736%2806%2968439-0/abstract

You might hear scaremongering stories from anti-vaccination. They say things like, “At least 20 women have died from it and many more have suffered serious complications.” and
“Gardasil is also suspected in causing some types of cancer.”
There is NO evidence that proves that Gardasil is directly linked to any deaths. There is also no evidence to show Gardasil causes any cancer.

Gardasil has also just passed it’s two year safety check:-
    http://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=93602

No vaccine is 100% but the benefits do outweigh the risks.

    Edit Lisa:
Er No, I am simply saying that the vaccine is undergoing testing, if it’s deemed unsafe, the vaccine will be pulled and it will not be given to people! If the vaccine is released then it will be deemed safe.

  13. Angelindisguisee x says:

Personally, i think it is a waste of money.
Most people i have spoke to will NOT be having it,
the tests seem rushed and may be inaccurate.
I think it is riidiculous they are giving a vaccine which hasnt even been tested properly to pregnant women.
I will NOT be getting the vaccine
