I am looking for a little reassurance here. As with most things you look up the bad things are always said more than the good. Both my sons 11 and 4 have been asked to go in to have the vaccination. One has Asthma the other has a heart condition. I know that I really should take them for it as they would most certainly be at risk if they caught swine flu but am not sure of the safety of the vaccine yet and would like to hear from anyone who’s child has had it and if they reacted badly in any way. Thank you.
Don’t know about children ,, but I and many other adults have had the swine flu jab , 10 days ago now , without any ill effects as far as I know .. Personally , apart from a sore arm for 24 hours all is fine .. How differently children might react as opposed to adults I don’t know ,
I’m sure the vaccine is probably safe, even though it has caused Guillane-Barre brain disorders, and even the inserts of the vaccine says it causes brain disorders and the vaccine contains mercury in it, but it’s really about the principle of it all, the swine flu is a major media hype, the vaccination programs is basically so guinea pigs can test out their new vaccines. If you want to be a guinea pig or have your children be guinea pigs, go ahead, but facts are facts. Yes the vaccine has mercury in it, yes it has squalene in it, yes it has caused and continues to cause brain disorders.
Hello, I do understand your concerns but there is no reason why this vaccine should be unsafe, ignore the twit above, he really has no idea what he is talking about. If your children have asthma and heart disease it’s very important that they have this vaccine as they are at an increased risk from secondary complications if they were to get swine flu. Nothing is 100% but the benefits do outweigh the rare risks.
The swine flu vaccine has been produced using the exact same methods and in a similar time scale as the seasonal flu vaccines that we produce each year to tackle the current strain of flu that has evolved. The only difference is the H1N1 component. This vaccine has been tested on hundreds of people in recent months and no serious reactions have occurred.
The H1N1 prototype vaccines have been clinically tested and shown to produce good immune system responses, and have a good safety profile. The insertion of the H1N1 strain into the vaccine should not affect the safety of the vaccine, the same as the annual modifications to the seasonal flu vaccine do not compromise safety. There is no reason why this vaccine should be unsafe.
My son hasn’t had it as he isn’t in any “at risk” group. I will try to obtain it privately for him when there are enough supplies in the UK.
I would be happy to have it myself. I know lots of nurses who have already had it and they are fine!
