So i had an MRI scan Hi there. I have been suffering from headaches. (very intense) for approx 8 months now. My neurologist thought it was occipital neuralgia. And ever since have been having nerve blocks monthly into my scalp.
And am taking 70mg of Amitryptiline at night every night.
However the pain is some what continual every day.
So i had an MRI 3 weeks ago.
The results showed nothing sinister. (I rang and spoke to a receptionist for the results) However there was an INCIDENTAL finding of sinus pressure..
I think i have a deviated septum.
When looking up my nose one of the openings is pretty much nearly shut. And i have always sensed breathing was hard on that side. But thought nothing of it. I do not have runny nose etc just headache/pressure
So what i am trying to find out is. What exactly does incidental findings of sinus pressure mean? Does this mean there is an infection?
The receptionist said. If you have no runny nose etc to just disregard the findings. And i’d not need treatment unless i have the common symptoms. Ie runny nose.. Blah blah blah..
I get terrible sinusitis, resulting in pressure in my face around the sinuses and pain if it gets too much. I also get runny noses and the like, so I take antibiotics every now and then, but they do bugger all as it is a chronic problem
It is not life threatening, and a deviated septum cannot be fixed by drugs, only by surgery as it is most likely caused at birth or by damage to the nose (anyone ever socked ya one??)
So unless it causes you great discomfort and inhibits your day to day lifestyle you SHOULD disregard it.
But if the headache/pressure really does affect your day to day life, consult a doctor for ways to fix this. I know exactly what you mean by the pressure headache, it is not nice.
Sounds like blocked sinuses this is very pain full, i have had it in the past and it caused me terrible headaches like a pressure pain especially between the eyes,i also had a blocked nose worse on the one side than the other,i put up with it for a few weeks until i realised it wasn’t going to go on it own accord,
i tried antibiotics they didn’t work so i tried medication especially for blocked sinus from the chemist and it helped a lot, after being on them for about 3 days i had an urge to blow my nose and it all came away rock hard gunge from my sinus, result headache went away along with pressure pains,
a nurse told me to inhale steam with a towel over my head and put salt in the water, the rest came out after and 12 years on i haven’t had trouble since, and before i was having it regular,it doesn’t mean an infection as mine wasn’t infected but i had terrible pressure its a build up of old gunge it happens after having many colds,
i never had a runny nose at all that would mean the opposite no sinus block,as blocked sinus is caused by hard gunge, not sure if i am explaining very well its just the way i can describe,so even with no runny nose it needs treatment as the pain will continue until its unblocked, painkillers is masking the pain but not curing the cause, but remember the area of pain depends on which sinus is blocked,
hope i have been of some help,i got my medication from a chemist without prescription.
