The government still has a long way to go to convince the public that the swine flu vaccine is safe, an exclusive survey for the BBC suggests.

Half of the 2,000 people polled said they were happy to have the jab, but safety was the major concern for many of those who had doubts.

  1. Bulwinkle says:

Go to the funerals of the children that died and say there should not be a vaccination.

  2. K Insane says:

Me and my husband got the Swine Flu mist and I can vouch at least that it’s perfectly safe. The virus itself targets younger healtier people and I do think that kids should get it. I know many people that attend college with me and as soon as the mist was avaliable down here they got their kids in right away. I don’t see any problems with it honestly.

  3. Josh says:

Of course. Government pays attention to people who actually know what they’re doing, that is, medical professionals. The public doesn’t know its ass from its elbow.

  4. Mad Mama says:

    People are mostly uneducated.

How many deaths from swine flu? How many from the vaccine? I would take the vaccine over the swine flu any day – and feel the same for my kid and grandkids.

  5. auriflamme says:

I have two under 5′s and I think we wont be getting the Jab, my wife is adamant about it. The Gov has downgraded the amount of deaths they predict, if they are right then this flu is less dangerous than the common flu we see each year, and I nor my children have never been inoculated for that.

If a doctor told me to get my children inoculated then I probably would with out hesitation, unfortunatly politicians no longer have that effect on me.

  6. Frank Capo says:

The swine flu is way overrated if you ask me.

  7. logan says:

I know 5 nurses with children and as soon as the vaccine was available they were in line to get it. The vaccine is no different then the regular flu vaccine except it is made with the H1N1 strain. I think it’s been proven that children are especially susceptible to this.

  8. pinkhamster99 (nWo) says:

When swine flu broke out in US in the 1950′s it killed one man. The vaccination program (that injected 24% of the US population) killed 25. The problem was stamped out by strong bio-security measures. I would not get on a plane that had been developed in a few months; I’m not sure if I would trust an electronic appliance made in such short time; I sure as hell will not be taking a vaccine that’s been made in such short amount of time.

As a country that has areas with areas of large population densities we need massive improvements in our bio-security. Bio-security has been an issue for decades. I do not understand why our governments strategy seems to be sort out the problem when it gets here. Time is money and good bio-security can delay or stop viruses making their way into the country and therefore leave more time to help develop a strategy and save money and ultimately save lives.

  9. hobgoldog says:

In my opinion it should be offered to working tax payers, seeing that they keep this country going.

  10. lotus eater says:

i dont trust the vaccine. it was pushed through too fast as the government wanted to show how good they are at saving us. 50% of pregnant woman have declined the offer of this vaccine and i would do the same. healthy people are not in any more danger from swine flu as they are from any other flu. i would not allow my child to have it.

  11. Gx says:

how many people have swine flu and how many people think they have it and how many people claim to have swine flu just to pull a sickie off work, unless you test with swabs we will never really know.
In California 13000 people who said they had swine flu were tested only 2% proved positive for swine flu..
In manchester out of 220 people tested for swine flu at a doctors surgery, only 10 proved positive and this was at the time of 100,000 cases a week earlier this year.
What we need is testing but because it cost money to test it’s not going to happen.
Is the swine flu vaccine safe ,only time will tell…

  12. Natty-Lea says:

I certainly wouldn’t feel comfortable giving it to my kids.
If you watch the videos in the links below you’ll understand why.
