When we eat our bodies defences are lessened as a lot of energy is going into digesting the food. Is this right?

  1. Emma W says:

It will be fine to fast, but you must make sure you keep drinking as much water as you can otherwise you may end up feeling worse.

  2. tania says:

firstly you are not allowed to fast when u not feeling well , so i dont its a good idea at all, wait till u feel that the flu symptoms are gone than u can continue to fast.

  3. ashypoo says:

No, feed a cold starve a fever. Your body needs food as fuel to help it beat the bug. If you don’t eat you will get very tired and weak.

Best thing to do is avoid solids (you might bring them back up) and have some boiled water with sugar for energy. Let it cool if you like, but it’ll keep you going if you can’t eat.

  4. sian says:

just eat light meals like soups etc

  5. Pebble da rebble says:

You should eat plenty of fruit and veg when you are suffering with flu and drink plenty of water as flu dehydrates you. Hope you feel better soon x

  6. pixiebell says:

not eating will make things worse, it will take longer to fight of the illness and your bodies defences will be veyr low.

  7. dark girl says:

When you are ill, you need food to help you get better. If you have flu you need food for energy and you need all the vitamins and things in food to help your body fight it off.

  8. kevin p says:

    wait till flu has gone

  9. Mimi says:

No that not true at all. You need to eat and eat well especially when your sick. Food is like our bodies fuel. If you don’t eat your body will not get the energy and nutrients it need to fight for you.

    so eat, and eat well.

  10. straightener says:

Eating easily digestible foods is okay. Do not starve, especially for colds …….plenty of fluids does help, with Vit. C though it is more of a psychological booster than anything else. Our bodies’ defenses are not lessened for digestion. Some foods may in fact boost defenses…………raw onions for example.

  11. anifowose b says:

the food its self is a medicine when one is having any strange feelings talking of when u already know that u have the symptoms of flu, so therefore dont fast bcos our God is a loving God he can understand ur weekness

  12. herbieb says:

No, you need to keep your strength up by eating balanced meals containing the nutrients your body and immune system needs in order to fight off the flu. If you starve yourself, you’re just prolonging the ‘getting better’ period.

  13. Edward B says:

Do lots of clear liquids, so as not to dehydrate. Pedialyte is a good thing, too. It has the vitamins, and certain electrolytes your body needs to fight off disease.
