I am working in a hospital administration, the air conditioning in my office is faulty as it is locked on, we cannot switch it off. That means that I am cold the all day in my office and two days ago there was a strong chemical smell from my office. I have now all the symptoms of a pneumonia, I will go to the doctor this evening to see if it is really that. In any case I am pretty sure that my health condition is due to this faulty air conditionning in this hospital. What would be my rights in that case?
I forgot to say that I mentionned this problem to my superiors from the first day, they replied me that they cannot fix it so I will have to shake. We are two workingin this offic

Rights? It’s your DUTY to report such faults and make sure it gets fixed. You have more chance of contracting Legionaires disease than Pneumonia from air conditioners…………….
You certainly can’t catch anything from being cold. It is also unlikely that you are being exposed to toxic chemicals. Legionella is about the only pneumonic infection related to air conditioning. If it could be proven that this was your specific infection, that it could be traced back to the air conditioning and that you had complained of it and that they had failed to both check and repair it following that complaint, you might just have a case.
You cannot get pneumonia from being cold and believe me if you had pneumonia, which is a life threatening illness, you would not be sitting at your pc. If your office is cold then its up to you to wear enough clothes to be warm.
