I’m asking on behalf of some else. About a week ago, an adult male had a burnt type injury covering the side of his right lower leg, he is unaware of how he did it, but he obtained the injury whilst clearing out a garage that had been dorment for a couple of years he thinks it happened when a generator type machine brushed his leg as he was moving it, it was switched off at the time. Instead of receiving medical treatment he tried to treat the injury with sudocrem, a rash began to develop below the wound. He had gone to the doctors, who told him he would need to receive wound care for the leg, and the rash, which had started to develop and move up his body, was most likely an allergic reaction to the sudcrem, however she also said it may be scabies, unless the rash goes above the neck and onto the head, she gave him some medication. Almost 7 days later this rash has covered his entire body head to toe, and is just getting worse! its like he has sores and boil type sores all over his body and face and scalp, he’s complaining that its itchy, and is burning. We did go to a&e over the weekend and the doctor who saw him was completly shocked by it and prescribed him some strong antibiotics, but the rash has gone worse, and he’s become very sore. He’s not feeling nauseous, sick and theres no muscle pain, its literally in his skin. The a&e doctor said its some sort of skin infection, but had no idea what kind of infection..
Does any body have any experience with such a rash? widespread, sore, itchy and feverish rash made of sores and spots..
He does not have any history of eczema or other skin conditions, it all seems to have begun since he cleaned the garage out..
what could it be!?
It’s definatly not scabies, as that doesn’t go on the face or neck and this has spread everywhere.. he was given a double base moisturiser to sooth the rash.. but it’s not working anymore, I’ve told him to go to a&e but he thinks they’ll send him home again, and i don’t blame him, they probably will..
and it’s not shingles, its affected his whole body.. but the sores are very similar to that you would see in fresh shingle sores
This is not a question that can reliably and accurately answered by anyone here, your friend should consult a Dermatologist. It sounded like a chemical burn until I read it had spread, so must be an infection.
i had a very similar thing, doctor told me i had shingles — look it up!!!
He needs more medical attention, it sounds like poison ivy gone mad or scabbies really bad. If it is scabies you should have been given a cream or powder for him to rub all over his body, also yours and anyone else that’s been in contact with him, his clothes & bedsheets would need boiling if not throwing away, hoover his mattress carpets curatins etc. Disinfect every surface in the house. I doubt very much if it is a reaction to sudocream, it is so mild in formula tha it would be extreely rare to cause such a reaction. The poor guy, i feel so sorry for him. He really needs to see another doctor and be properly diagnosed, thiscould be something completely unrelated to an allergy but is sounds very serious so do get him back to another doctor and get a skin sample analysed this time to see exactly what it is. You caould google local infectious diseases clinic and ring them they will tell you to come right away.Best of luck I hope you get to the bottom of this asap.
this sounds awful, i hope he gets better soon. to be completely honest i am stumped, it could be a range of things. the doctors should really help, their is a cream to stop itching, but i’ve forgot what it’s called, there are alot of things to help reduce the symptoms until the immue system has taken care of the rash. e.g. cream to soothe the rash, a anti-histamine? to stop the itching? x
fungus? don’t wash clothes with the bathroom rug.
