I haven’t had an active thyroid since I was born. I have heard that if you have asthma or have had treatment in the last 3 years it can effect the condition of swine flu. Will taking this medication effect it at all?

Levothyroxine returns you to a totally normal condition so it will have no effect on your reaction to a swine flu infection should you be unlucky enough to contract it.
I too have an under active thyroid, and have been taking the tamiflu remedy for swine flu for two days, I have noticed that at the worst of the h1n1 attack my neck started to itch on the left side…i reckoned that my thyroid gland was taking a hammering, so i took an extra levothyroxine tab just to help my poor old thyroid along a bit, I have done this without medical advice, but it seems that it works, because soon after the itching gland stops itching, if there are any medics on this board who can give me an explanation for this i would appreciate guidance. Stands to reason that when ill the thyroid might need a bit of extra help. I am only on a 50 mg, dose normally…and i am not taking the extra at the same time as my normal dose. (usually 8hours later) Hope this is helpful.
