I slipped over on a path which is a dedicated walkway to view animals. I work at night looking after the site but managed to slip on a sloping bit of path and fell hard onto my left side. I filled in the accident book just in case but felt ok at the time. 2 days later my left hip is agony and very stiff and my back muscles are very sore. Saw a doctor today and he confirmed that my muscles have gone into spasm and i need physio treatment. I rang work to ask if they would pay for my treatment but they said their insurance doea not cover for any health care for myself. Also I used up last yrs sick pay entitlement as i had a serious operation and they tell me that if i have any more time off of work that they wont pay me and i have to claim from the government statutatory sick pay.I wont get sick pay from my company until i work a solid 12 months since returning last |August to work!!!
Can they do this??? Can i make a claim for injury if i HAVE to take time off of work??? Do i have to pay for private treatment as that is what i need right now and booked in for tomorrow??? I cant wait for NHS treatment as that could be 2-3 months away!!! Does anyone know where i stand with this??? Please
Nah. Get a lawyer. Walmart does the same thing w/ their employees.
I think unless you pay for the private treatment you will have to wait for an NHS appointment. Your employer is not obliged to pay even if they were negligent. If they were you have to put in an industrial injuries claim and information regarding that is available from the Benefits Agency Department.
