i got that needle already. so does that mean im safe? i wont get it now. also i wanted to know if you know people that have that flu? that H1N1 flu sounds scary. people are dying from it. i do not know anyone that has it. i dont have it either. well its obvious i got my needle. so yeah thats all.
yes, you should be immune to it now. i have it. it’s like the regular few, just with some more symtoms. the only people that has died from it is people that are pregnant, or with medical problems. don’t be scared, it’s horrible but you will live through it ; i am.
the evil h1n1 monster is gonna eat you up now
I believe it takes four to six weeks to develop full immunity, so you’ll still want to take precautions such as keeping your hands away from your face and washing your hands just to be on the safe side. And don’t forget, it’s also time for seasonal influenza to start spreading and if you haven’t had the seasonal flu shot you could still get the flu, only a different strain.
And I don’t know anyone who has had a diagnosed case of swine flu.
Well, not quite so simple.
Once you have gotten the immunization, it takes about a week for it to work. During that time, it is possible for you to get it.
Also, the shot is not 100% effective, but it is high.
Bottom line, you should still take precautions to protect yourself….good and frequent hand washing, avoiding crowds and ill people.
However, by getting the shot, you have taken the best action you could take to protect yourself! Good work!
My nephew died because of the swine flu so it’s pretty scary in my opinion. I’m really proud of you for getting vaccinated, it may just be one of the best things that someone can do to save their lives. You’re safe now so no worries! Like one of the previous posters said, it takes a little while to develop full immunity, so continue to be extra cautious in washing your hands (they actually say that you should hum the entire happy birthday song while washing your hands, the longer the better!), etc.
I dont beleive this vaccine is safe here i copied and pasted some info on the vaccine.
This isn’t the first time the public has been warned about swine flu. The last time was in 1976, It resulted in the massive swine flu vaccine campaign.
Do you happen to recall the result of this massive campaign?
Within a few months, claims totaling $ 1.3 billion had been filed by victims who had suffered paralysis from the vaccine. The vaccine was also blamed for 25 deaths.
However, several hundred people developed crippling Guillain-Barré Syndrome after they were injected with the swine flu vaccine. Even healthy 20-year-olds ended up as paraplegics.
And the swine flu pandemic itself? It never materialized.
Rates of infection in the UK have risen sharply, with an estimated 53,000 new swine flu cases in the past week. The UK also saw a further 16 swine flu deaths, bringing the total to 122 since the virus first appeared; 93 in England, 15 in Scotland, eight in Northern Ireland and six in Wales. The disease is however mild in most people so far, but is proving severe in a small minority of cases.
As you can see from those figures up to 53,000 cases a week have resulted in 122 deaths since the epidemic began 7 months ago, this is no more than would be expected from any normal seasonal flu.
You are only covered for 6 months and it takes around 21 day to start to develop immunity.
as many people die from the shot as do the swine flu . i have the flu now , feel really bad ……. also u can still get the swine flu even if u got the shot , it only helps the percentage a little bit , also i hear the shot causes many illnesses in all age groups , especially in children
for me i will rather face the flu
My friend had H1N1. She says it’s like the regular flu, except you vomit. it lasts from about 3 days to a week. I wouldn’t worry
The flu vaccines offer about 70% protection for that particular strain of flu. If the virus mutates, you may get the flu but the vaccine should offer some degree of cross protection so it won’t be as bad.
The vast majority of people who get swine flu will not die. Only those with medical risk factors and pregnant women are really at risk. But even with these groups of people, most will make a full recovery.
