Rosemary tea simmered for 3mins then topped up with milk sweetened by a teaspoon of sugar and a dollop of honey and a touch of cream.
Magic, a soother taken frequently and A Pint of Organic Whole Milk three times a Day, Also Not From Concentrate pressed/squeezed Orange Juice. Not forgetting a good tablespoon of mixed blend Honey two to three times a day.

Is really soothing, and really lovely, it always stops me feeling faint. i tend to eat less when i have a cold and i get quite weak.
Meaty food with lots of black pepper or a good meat soup is a excellent meal to have, plenty of garlic and raw or steamed vegetables.
i also bought a mixed fruit and veg smoothie once, it was amazing, soo good, i think all those vitamins were a dream, it was gorgeous and soothing my eyes brightend and my energy levels shot up.

i dont take medicines for flus and cold,
i’d love to hear of any other remedies…..

Anyone else got a non medicinal remedy.

I’ve had a cold and sore throat since last Thursday, and today my mum made me a lovely drink. It’s just boiling water, with a spoon of honey, and then fresh lemons and oranges squeezed into it. It’d made me all warm (:

It tastes quite bitter-sweet because of the lemon, but in a good refreshing way (:

I use a teaspoon of salt and about 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in a cup of warm water to gargle and sniff up the nose. I do this as soon as I feel a cold coming on and it seems to keep my nose from clogging up. For flu or fevers I take as hot a shower I can stand and then put on pajamas and wrap up in blankets in bed. I try to sweat the fever out.

the KEY is PREVENTION. My job has this SEVERE attendance policy, and you CANT get sick or they can you. Living in Minnesota, it’s HARD not to get sick in the winter. So I have been drinking Emergen-C. It’s a powdered drink mix. I put 2 packets into a water bottle, and shake it up. I take 2-4 packs a day depending on how i am feeling. If i have a scratchy throat i take 4, for example. (The label says up to 4 a day) and I have not been sick ONCE this winter. now, i have a weak immune system, just by nature of my body. Usually by this time of year I have been sick at least 3, maybe up to 5 times. How many times this year, with the Emergen-C?: NOT EVEN ONCE. I swear by the stuff, and if you go to your grocery store it should be there.

But i think it is REALLY cool you found these natural cures, and IF i get sick i will try them! Rock on.

Hi sweetie, your cold/flu remedy sounds great, but i will leave out the meat soup as i am a Veggie…lol.
I have never tried anything other than a mega dose of Vitamin C with bioflavonoids when i feel a cold coming on or even when i am in the company of someone suffering a cold. I increase my Vitamin C intake from my usual daily dose of 1000mg to 4 times that dose in a day. I maintain this high dose until i feel i am no longer threatened by any bugs. It always seems to work for me. A few weeks ago my family members, one by one went down with a bad cold/flu but i managed to escape it by simply increasing my Vitamin C dosage. Of course, sometimes mega-dosing may carry health risks (as could any natural remedy if used in excess) so I only do this when needed.
My ex husband used to boil Schweppes Lemonade and sip it very hot after taking two paracetamols. He swore by this and it seemed to work.
All the other remedies here sound good too…something to keep in mind.
    Best wishes x

  6. mom/oma says:

    Chicken soup:
    2 skinless chicken breasts
    2 stalks of celery, sliced
a small bag of baby carrots
    three green onions, diced
    2 chicken bouillon cubes
    2 cans of chicken broth
    1 cup of water
    1 teasp. marjoram
    1 teasp. oregano
1 teasp. rosemary (fresh twigs would be good too)
1 teasp. parsley (fresh is better)
    1 teasp. thyme
    1 teasp. sage
pinch of salt, pepper and garlic

Boil then simmer for 1-1 1/2 hrs. Take a fork and separate chicken into pieces.

    Works great!

Edit: If you like noodles, you can add a cup or two of egg noodles the last few minutes before eating. Wait until noodles are tender to the fork and then serve.

A flu and a cold are caused by viruses and your body can fight them off by itself. Your “cure” probably did nothing except make you feel busy while your immune system went and did it’s work.
