Around 29 people from a total of 55,000 people in the UK have died from Swine flu. That’s about 0.1%. I would love to know roughly how many people die each year from ‘seasonal’ flu. And if that was given a new name and it was brought to are immediate attention by the media, would we be worrying about that?
In 2008, 6000 people dies from seasonal flu, in the last flu epidemic in 1999-2000 20,000 people died from it. Thats all I know sorry.
I was thinking the same thing! From what I’ve found on the net many people die of seasonl flu each year – it’s just not as well advertised. Does make you wonder how much swine flu is being hyped up! I know it can be serious but so far it’s a very very small minority that are ill or die from it. Let’s hope it stays that way.
Annually its in the 10s of thousands
