my husband has had a headache for 3 weeks, he is now on oxygen at home, this is treatment for cluster headaches. He has never had anything like this before. what could have caused this?

Oh no! Cluster headaches are awful! I am one of the very lucky ones who had one episode of this and then it stopped. Quite often you find they come back at the same time each year. I sympathise with him – it is beyond headache! It affects approximately 0.1% of the population, and men are more commonly affected than women.Cluster headaches have been classified as vascular headaches. The intense pain is caused by the dilation of blood vessels which creates pressure on the trigeminal nerve. While this process is the immediate cause of the pain, the etiology (underlying cause or causes) is not fully understood.

I have suffered from cluster headaches for 3 years now. It is the most intense pain I have ever experienced. I wish I had an answer as to why they occur. I feel for your husband, these headaches are worse than childbirth!
