What Happened With The Avian Flu Epidemic Scare?

Remember how the media was reporting about the possibility of an Avian flu (more commonly known as Bird flu) epidemic spreading worldwide? Well, what happened? I was thinking about this yesterday and recall all the newspaper and magazine articles talking about it last year.

Media has stopped writing about it.
That’s the only thing that has changed.

The papers have other things to scare people with at the moment.

They couldn’t get the “vaccine” together to scam the public out of billions of $s, so the story got dropped.

There are other stuff that newspapers can talk about these days.

It is still there, but currently under control.

the media is now covering some ex-cop who may have killed his missing wife. Apparently they see this as a more significant world issue.

In the USA, the media is too concerned with sensationalizing every inanity of the primary election races. Sounds like the UK has the McCanns and Gordon Brown to keep them busy.
But it’s not like the bird flu was worthy of all the hype it got either. Not that it isn’t a valid concern, but the media would be loathe to report that our health agencies (both private and governmental) have had a pretty good handle on the situation the entire time. In fact, the early detection of bird flu is a wonderful success story…but since that is good news, nobody knows about it.
Because of that success, I suspect that reporting bird flu will quietly go away over the coming years…until the media latches onto to some other “epidemic” to attract the gawking Chicken Littles of the world.
