i think im on the verge of getting a flu but i dont want to use lemsip or paracetomol because over time this makes the immune system weaker and more dependant on the medicines.

First of all, Lemsip or paracetamol will not weaken your immune system neither are either of these drugs addictive. Lemsip or paracetamol will never CURE a cold, they only reduce symptoms.
There are no natural or conventional cures for colds and virus’s in general. They will go away on their own. You just have to ride it out I’m afraid. Push fluid intake, get some rest and take paracetamol for any pain relief and/or to reduce any temperature.
Also, Vitamin C, Echinacea, garlic and zinc have all proven to be worthless in curing a cold and there is little evidence to suggest it prevents one from occurring either!

You cannot be on the verge of flu as you either have it or you don’t have it. You probably have a bad cold. If you have flu you will have a bad head for days, your legs and everything else will be weak, you will not want to eat and you will feel as worse in health as you will ever be, short of nearly dieing. Either way Lem-sip etc will not cause any weakening of your immune system as they are only pain killers and have no effect on the immune system of your body. Antibiotics will and so will steroids and chemotherapy. Lem-sip etc only ease the effect of the symptoms as there is no cure for flue once you have it and no cure for the cold. As for the natural remedies to help you through the best is to drink plenty, water, milk etc and once you feel like eating have fresh fruit and veg.

Sorry but that is a pile of pooh. Lemsip or paracetamol do not affect the immune system AT ALL. Dont pretend you know about medicine. Paracetamol is an analgesic which lowers temperature and nulls pain. Lemsip just has a decongestant in.
Antibiotics deplete the immune system because they are doing the job the white blood cells should be doing. stop being silly.

    My tips are:
Blow your nose often and well
    Stay rested
Gargle water for sore throat relief- temporary
Drink hot liquids- especially green tea
Take steamy showers- great for clearing the nose/lungs
Apply hot water/heat packs to aching areas, take hot baths.
    Common colds need common sense!
If need be turn to medication if its at a minimum.
    Hope you feel better soon!

I read something in the papers last week. A doctor said at the onset of a cold he used steam to kill the germs in the back of the nose and throat. He sat in a sauna, but I suppose an inhalor would work just as well.

Well I don’t know man I got flu shots and I feel so sick right now it’s 3:30 am and I’m going nuts. Sore throat, fever, cough, congestion, yuck. Just eat vegetables and fruit with liquids.
