  1. paw chua says:

    HIV
    - acquired sexually or through blood transfusion
    - as far as i know, HIV has no known treatment

    While Meningitis or Influenza,
    - are acquired through airborne or droplet
    - these can be treated

  2. Dora D says:

HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) is the virus that causes AIDS. This virus may be passed from one person to another when infected blood, semen, or vaginal secretions come in contact with an uninfected person’s broken skin or mucous membranes*. People with HIV have what is called HIV infection. Some of these people will develop AIDS as a result of their HIV infection.

Meningitis is an inflammation of the meninges, the membranes that cover the brain and spinal cord. It is usually caused by bacteria or viruses, but it can also be caused by certain medications or illnesses.

nfluenza, or the flu, is a viral infection affecting the respiratory tract. Symptoms of the flu include fever, runny nose, stuffed up nose, fatigue, headache, cough, sore throat, vomiting, diarrhea, and achy muscles and joints. Keep in mind that these are flu-like symptoms.

  3. Timothy S says:

Meningitis and influenza are caused by viruses. HIV is a virus that causes Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome. All three are different in symptoms and when you get them under a microscope they are quite different physically as well.

  4. tanya says:

meningitus and influenza you catch like you would a cold through coughing or close contact.they can be fatal but if treated you recover.hiv is caught from blood, semen, vaginal fluids and breast milk.can be treated though you will always have it and it may progress to aids.

  5. Kat says:

HIV attacks the entire immune system, while Meningitis attacks the central nervous system.

Meningitis can be spread through casual contact. HIV requires a direct bodily fluid contact.

Meningitis is often treatable and curable. HIV is treatable, but not curable.

Meningitis has a fast onset of symptoms. HIV typically lies dormant for many years before manifesting symptoms.

  6. Cool Hal says:

    As above

Question – why is there still ignorance about HIV and AID’s in 2008?There is no excuse for asking questions like this anywhere in the world.

Where are we letting our children down?

Edit – I think Panny has probably just answered my questions

  7. GlasgowGirl says:

In HIV, the shape of the virus continually mutates making it impossible for your white blood cells to produce the right kind of lymphocytes to engulf the virus, it attacks your immune system till you can no longer fight it. That is why no vaccine can be produced – because the virus keeps changing itself.

  8. jackie m says:

HIV has no cure the other 2 do have a cure.
