Flu Symptoms 2011
He started with a watery eye this morning that we’ve been bathing all day, mainly to clear the sticky discharge, this now seems to be doing better, but he’s started sneezing. He’s not been out, or anywhere near any other cats with flu, so I’m a bit worried about him. He’s very lively and is eating fine. So if he gets any worse I’ll call the vet out tomorrow since they’re not open til Tuesday

It’s similar to human flu with lack of energy and has killed cats in the past. Take him to a vet.
Sneezing, runny eyes, runny nose – yes it will probably kill kittens if left untreated, it will also probably kill an adult cat (not sure of the exact figures, but well over 50% expected death rate in adult cats).
If you have a cat of ANY age with suspected cat flu – get it to the vet immediately.

cat flu can kill if untreated ,syptoms are runny nose and eyes sneezing it went through my cattery very quickly and one of my cats was very poorly and lost lots of weight .

It just like human flu but more dangerous to animals also it can kill them so take them to your local vets asap thanks hope tha help you : )

Yes, cat flu can be fatal in cats, especially in young kittens. It is a viral infection.
Symptoms include:
+ watery eyes/discharge from eyes
+ runny nose – either clear or snotty
+ sores in mouth
+ sneezing
+ loss of appetite (from not being able to smell their food)
+ open-mouth breathing
Cats can be carriers of cat flu without showing symptoms, and can pass it on to their kittens. Therefore it may be possible for your kittens to have it even though they haven’t been around other cats – they could’ve caught it from their mother. Do get veterinary treatment ASAP.

Get to the vet asap, I do know it can kill a kitten and keep it away from all other cats!!!
You need to take it to the vet as if it is cat flu then it will need antibiotics and cream for its eyes. Kittens can die from cat flu so you must get it treated. I took in two kittens which were born to a stray cat. Both turned out to have cat flu, but survived with no further problems.
kittens can go downhill extremly quickly, my friend once had a kitten with suspected flu and it only started showing the symptoms on the friday and by sunday it had passed away.
get it to the vet quick tym! good luck
