I have constant chest pain under my breastbone on the right side of my chest (sort of to the middle), it hurts when I breathe, and worse when I cough. I think I have a fever but since I’m on several types of painkillers (acetaminophen etc)for chronic pain, it’s hard to tell. I don’t cough a lot, but it’s sort of itching in my lungs as well as in my throat.
I also have had a head ache for a week. I’ve had pneumonia twice before and I didn’t have any cough then.
I also seem to have no normal body temperature, I’m either cold and literally shivering or sweating like crazy. I’m really really tired as well.
What are the symptoms of pneumonia? Should I see a doctor or should I wait and see if it goes away on it’s own?
I’m trying to stop smoking right now as well, I smoke 1-3 cigarettes per day 5 days a week.
I called the doctors office yesterday and they said I should wait and see if I get better or worse, and not go to the doctor yet.
go to the doctor
Go to the docs – pneumonia can kill if left untreated.
Stop smoking too – it doesn’t help!
see a dr.

First , as a ” veteran ” of having pneumonia , I think you have it . Go see your doctor . Second , my father died of this illness , and he too was a heavy smoker , and I can tell you directly , that smoking makes your breathing much worse , when you have pneumonia . I don’t want to sound like I am preaching , , so I apologize .
Go to the doctors, you have nothing to lose xxx
See a doctor right away
