Cold for a couple of weeks, now sudden fever?

2.5 year old with cold symptoms for weeks, runny nose, slight cough. all of the sudden today he develops a fever of 103.3 f. anyone have any ideas? the tylenol brought back his energy and appetite after it brought the fever down. i suggested he go to the doc. the parents haven’t taken him yet. any suggestions?

    Tell them again to take him to the doctor. Also tell them if they do not take him that you will call authorities (Department of children and families).
    This age can act fine, running around on minute……..But when they begin to worsen it happens very quickly.
